The Awareness Raising Voyage: Sailing with Purpose
In partnership with Aegean Cargo Sailing, which is providing two eco-friendly sailing boats powered only by wind and sun and their captains — a unique crew will set off this summer across the Aegean and Ionian Seas. The boats are modest, but their mission is profound. Onboard are Loucas, Suzanne, Nora, John, and Arran — not just sailors and scientists, but storytellers, bridge-builders, and guardians of the sea.
Their voyage won’t be rushed. It will move with the rhythms of the water, stopping at key island ports to meet locals, welcome boaters, and spark conversations around the world’s most endangered seal and a living emblem of Greece’s natural heritage.
Together, this multigenerational and international crew of young marine researchers and seasoned skippers will navigate not only coastlines — but the deeper stories that bind people to place. With each harbor they reach, they’ll bring more than just brochures or facts. They’ll bring presence. Curiosity. And an open invitation to rediscover the Greek sea not just as a destination, but as a shared, living habitat.
This is a voyage of listening as much as telling. One where science meets tradition, and local knowledge meets global urgency.
